Love Rain is a drama for those hopeless romantic viewers. From the director that brings Endless Love series , Yoon_Seok-Ho creates another masterpiece that every korean drama lovers would definitely watched. Considered as fifth installment for the Endless love series though there are no official words that it was part of it considering that the Endless love drama’s are about the four seasons yet, Love Rain is definitely a different version of the other four because although there is a part that you could not help for your tears to fall, the ending gives justice to make the story something to look forward to.

Korean Drama – I miss you- Missing you

November 11, 2012 in Drama, Korean Drama, Korean Drama I Love

Yoon Eun Hye is back after doing 2011, The Black Little Dress and the sensational Lie To Me, now she is paired with Korean’s Hearthrob Park Yoo Chun on a romantic melo-dramatic I Miss You, this drama is about a guy and a girl who experienced a painful relationship at their early age of 15 and meet again when they were adult. Hang Jung Woo (Park Yoochun) is a homicide detective and looking for his childhood love Lee So Yeon ( Yoon Eun Hye) who is now a fashion designer who also dreams that her first love was looking for her. Yoo Seung Ho (whom I just watched on Arang and the Magistrate and Operation Proposal) plays a cold-hearted, charismatic fund manager, who tries to take revenge on Han Jung Woo because of the troubled relationship within their family.

I miss you- korean drama

Scheduled to premiere on November 7, 2012, I Miss You replaced Arang and the Magistrate (whom i recently finished watching) and will definitely make YooChun and Eun Hye’s fans very anxious.  When I watched Lie To me and the Rooftop Prince, i thought it’s nice to pair up this two great Korean actor and actress because they show resemblance on different ways, sweet, bubbly and eyes who speaks their emotional feelings and when I have heard that they are finally having this drama, it made me curious because instead of funny and bubbly romantic /comedy drama, Eun Hye is doing something different from her character on Coffee Prince and Princess Hours and Yoonchun’s Sungkyunkwan Scandal and, Rooftop Prince this just show that they are indeed ready for a more serious roles.  I just hope that this one got a good romantic ending not like the other Korean Drama’s I’ve watched were the main lead died or was separated with each other.

Yoon Eun Hye , Park Yoochun and Yoo Seung Ho

I’m not really into heavy drama because it breaks my heart but this is definitely on my lists of Must watch KDrama.

My Secret Love – Sungkyunkwan Scandal Review and Spoiler

October 30, 2012 in Drama, Featured Post, Korean Drama, Korean Drama I Love

Sungkyunkwan scandal – secret love – korean drama

A korean historical fiction romantic drama that will surely makes you smile and forgt your problems for a while.  I find watching Korean drama relaxing and entertaining because there story is not just interesting but something different from the usual drama i used to watch in local channels.

One of the Korean Drama that i so like is 2010  Sungkyunkwan Scandal or locally sub titled as Secret Love starring one of Korean heartthrob and sought actor Park Yuchun (Rooftop Prince, Attic Prince) , beautiful actress Park Min Young ( City Hunter) and another korean actor,  Yoo Ah In (Fashion King).

The story was set on an era where women is not allowed to be educated or working.  A young girl Kim Yoon Hee ( Park Min Young) disguise himself as a man (pretends to be his brother) to work in a world for men alone.  Because of her desire to make their life differently after the death of her father and to give support to her ailing brother.  She works in a local bookstore until she was given a big job to be a substitute test taker  for those who wanted to study at Sungkyunkwan University.  She was accidentally chosen to study in the famous school which was strictly open for boys and unexpectedly paired up in the same room with two boys Lee Sun Joon and Moon Jae Shin whom she had previously encountered in a separate occasion.

sunkyunkwan scandal -secret love review

While on the university, there are some incidents that compromise her disguise but she eventually pulled it through with the help of her room mates.  On the process, she falls in love with the upright Lee Sun Joon and in the same way, Lee Sun Joon felt a different feeling for her with thoughts that she was indeed a man.

In one instance, they were able to uncover the truth on how her father and Moon Jae Shin brother died and the involvement of Lee Sun Joon father that leads to different unexpected events that compromises her status and life with the class president Ha in Soo (Jun Tae Soo) wanting to expel her in the university.

romantic moments in secret love

As the story goes, her disguise was unexpectedly unravel by her room mates and Lee Sun Joon find himself more in love with her and will do things to protect her from people who vows to destroy her reputation and her life even if this takes to defies his own father.  They made an investigation leading to a more revelations with the king sacrificing his own desire to save Kim Yoon He and to cover the truth.

Although, it’s a fiction story, the ending was quite satisfying with both Kim and Lee still working for Sungkyunkwan as a teacher/mentor for new generation of students and would often seen quarreling with their different point of views but the story closes with the scene showing that their love was consummated as they become husband and wife.

What i love with their character is the fact that although it’s a cute romantic drama, it was not over acting and the cat and dog fights scene comes naturally.  The action scene are not overly done and you can see that it is not as brutal as you could imagine.  Although, at first, i don’t see Park Yu Chun and Park Min Young chemistry with each other unlike Park Min Young portraying Kim NAna in City Hunter along side with Lee Min Ho, but in this drama, they were able to pull their character through and they blended naturally making the whole series something worthy for viewers to look forward on every episode.  No wonder, i have watched it twice already.

Lie To Me- Korean Drama

July 26, 2012 in GMA 7, Korean Drama, Korean Drama I Love

Lie To Me -GMA 7

This is my third time to watch this episode.  Ooh, not just this episode but the whole KDrama as well.  Lie to me is one of my favorite KDrama ever not just because of the actors and actresses but I do love the very cute and light story.

I know that this is just a story and the two are just merely acting on what the director says , that makes them a great actors but looking at them, they really have that chemistry that make viewers fall in love over and over again.  Kang Ji Hwan (My girlfriend is an agent, Coffee House)  is not a very handsome actor (in fact, there are many Korean actors that is more handsome than him) but his acting is indeed something worth looking at.

Lie to me is a story of Gong Ah Jung, a Ministry of Culture official, gets entangled in a web of lies when she mistakenly lies that she’s married to Hyun Ki Joon, a hotel manager. Their relationship is further complicated when Ki Joon’s ex-fiancée and a close friend of his brother’s, Oh Yoon Joo, reappears in his life. Eventually, the two falls in love with each other but just like other story, it doesn’t run smoothly, they have to deal with separation and pain in some parts of the story.  But realizing their love for each other, they were reunited again.

The only thing that I don’t like on this series is the ending.  Many Filipino loves romantic ending and I don’t find the ending a very romantic one.  Yes, they were able to get back on each others embrace but i feel that it was some how lacking.  I wished they have ended it with the two marrying or perhaps, Ki Joon proposing to her.

Anyhow, the story is not boring and there are many scenes that are really “kilig to the bones” and that’s makes me more happier. So, if you haven’t watch the korean version with english subs,  You can tune in every night at GMA 7, Philippine Television or you can check their official facebook fan page.

Lee Min Ho’s New Korean Drama “Faith”

July 9, 2012 in Entertainment, Featured Post, Korean Drama, Korean Drama I Love

I don’t know what’s with Korean Drama, lately some of the KDrama i have watched was about a young man that lives on the old century (kingdom) and a woman from the new era (modern world) with the man travelling from the fast to present to solve some difficulties or problems and finding true love beyond time and places.

First was the Rooftop Prince ( a story of a prince who travels in time to find his beloved wife) and the second one is  Queen In Hyun’s Man (a scholar who supported Queen In Hyun travels 300 years to find the modern Korea with a no name actress portraying the role of Queen In Hyun in a film) and now, favorite Korean hunk actor Lee Min Ho’s new korean drama named “Faith” is also about a warrior from the Goryeo Period and a female doctor from the present day finds each other and their love transcending time and space.

Faith (Lee Min Ho)

Just seeing the official pictures from their official page thrills me. I would definitely wait this one and hopefully, i got the chance to watch it.

Lee Min Ho’s new korean drama “faith”

In this Kdrama, he will be paired opposite to Korean actress Kim Hee – Seon (Sun) of Smile Again and My Fair Lady.

Best Korean Drama

June 24, 2012 in Featured Post, Korean Drama, Korean Drama I Love

Recently, I have been addicted to Korean Drama or simply KDrama.  It’s an addiction that i haven’t find a cure but i guess, it’s not yet time to cure them because it gives me not just fun time but it keeps me really happy making me forget for a while the stresses of life and the struggles that I needed to face. Korean Dramas is not just entertaining, some of them depicts life, love and different journey.  There are many korean series that also tells about Korean History but i’m not really into historical or epic drama, so i guess, i have to skip that one.

There are many KDrama that are worth watching but i have selected the best for me to share to you all. Below are my favorites which was shown from 2006 up to the present.

Best Korean Drama 2006

Princess Hours – also known as Goong - 2006-Jan-11 to 2006-Mar-30

Princess Hours – Korean Drama 2009

This was indeed one of my favorite KDrama.  It is not just the fact that Yoon Eun Hye is the main character in this series.  The chemistry of Yoon Eun Hye and Joo Ji Hoon was unexpectedly beautiful.

The story is about young love in face of tradition, politics and intrigue in the modern era.  The setting was in moder-day korea with a constitutional monarchy and the Royal family still lives in the grand palace.  With the death of the King and the decreasing popularity of the royal family, the wedding of the Crown Prince  Lee Shin, is decided to be the best publicity move to improve their image. Chae Kyung was betrothed to become the next Crown Princess by her grandfather and Shin’s grandfather. Living with the different life, the two encounters different problems.  After 14 years of living in England with his mom, Lee Yul (the former Crown Prince) appears all of a sudden even falling in love with the care spirited Chae Kyung. As the Crown Prince Shin and simple-minded Chae Kyung’s relationship develops on a deeper feelings, a series of scandals are exposed to the public right after the pair were officially announced married. Chae Kyung eventually needs (exiled) to go to Macau to study and Prince Shin gives his right to rule to his sister.  When Prince Shin visited Chae Kyung in Macau, the two eventually consummated their love giving the audience a beautiful ending.

Now, i wonder what happened to Joo Ji Hoon after scandals of drug abuse. I do hope he can make a come back to his new KDrama Five Fingers.

Best Korean Drama 2007

Coffee Prince – 1st shop coffee prince -2007-Jul-02 to 2007-Aug-27

1st shop Coffee Prince- korean drama

Now, you know why Yoon Eun Hye is considered as one of the best korean actress and yes, she was included as one of the highest paid actress.  It’s because of the fact that she stars with korean drama series that was well loved not just in their country but in other Asian countries like the Philippines.

The story was a romantic comedy that shares the fate of a tomboyish woman who pretends to be a man for her to find work.  She met  Gong Yoo, a rich man who owns a coffeshop.  Yoo in order to evade his family’s wish for him to marry, decides to hire Eun Chan to pretend to be his gay lover so that he can escape the blind dates arranged by his grandmother. The two develops feelings but with the great opposition of the family what do you think will happen to their love story?

Best Korean Drama 2009

Boys Before Flowers (Boys Over Flowers) - 2009-Jan-05 to 2009-Mar-31

Boys over flowers

Korean version of the well loved story Meteor Garden (Taiwan- hmm, now i remember that) and Hana Yori Dango of Japan.  I have been hooked on watching this Kdrama and eventually watching it for three times.  I guess it’s not just me but many others too.  ABS-CBN have repeatedly air this for three times I guess.

Starring Li Min Ho , Go Hye Sun , Kim Bum, Kim Hyun Joong, Kim Joon.  The story evolves with Geum Jan Di (an ordinary girl whose family owns a dry cleaning store and was granted a full swimming scholarship while she saves a life of a someone who is attempting to jump off the roof of the Shin Hwa High School.  While attending the school she was terrorized by Gu Jun Pyo, leader of the famous group F4 ( composed of the richest and most popular boys at the school)  On the process of bullying her, Jun Pyo realized that he was already attracted to Jan Di who in return has a crush on Yoon Ji Hoo (Jun Pyo’s best friend).  The couple finds love unexpectedly and have to battle the dilemma caused by Jun Pyo’s mother who are set to break them apart no matter what happened.

Although, there are many problems and trials the main characters needed to face, they eventually find each other’s embrace at the end.

Your Beautiful - 2009-Oct-07 to 2009-Nov-26

Your Beautiful – Korean Drama 2009

Although this KDrama was shown a earlier in the Philippine television. I was not able to watched it for some obvious reason.  (we don’t have that channel on our television, LOL)  But it’s really nice that I was able to watched it at last.

Starring Park Shin Ye (Heart Strings) and Jang Geun Suk (Marry me Mary) , the group of Tae Kyung and On Yu are in search of a new member  A.N.JELL. However, Mi Nam  suffers an injury at the last moment. So Mi Nyu, his twin sister, is asked to step in for her brother.  She is against it in the beginning but for her quest to finally see their mother, she agreed to the plan and enters the group as her brother.  Her life in the group is not good at first as Tae Kyung wants to make his life miserable for him to get out of the group but as he does this Tae Kyung suddenly felt a strange feeling of falling in love with Mi Nyu whom he taught was a  man.

Creating Destiny - 2009-Oct-10 to 2010-Jan-24

Creating Destiny – Korean Drama

Starring now real life couple, Eugene (Save the Last Dance) and Ki Tae Young . The story evolves on finding love and keeping the family faith.  Han Sang Eun migrated to Australia with her family at a young age. Years later,  when she had complted a law degree in the United States and plans to marry her American boyfriend. Her dad, strongly opposed the union and has set his heart on her marrying Kim Yeo Joon, the son of his best friend.

Sang Eun finds herself exiled to Korea, where she reluctantly teams up with the equally uninterested Yeo Joon to devise a plan that will allow them to avoid their impending marriage while on the process, they have eventually find love but just like any other drama, their story doesn’t goes smoothly and they needed to face different challenges to create their own destiny.

My Fair Lady - 2009-Aug-19

My fair Lady – Korean Drama 2009

Starring Yoon Eun Hye and Yoon Sang Hyun (Secret Garden) Jung IL Woo ( Flower Boy Ramyun Shop & 49 Days) .  The story evolves on the owner of “Lady Castle”, who lives life as a princess-like but she’s lonely and yearning for attention.

She has grown-up into a self-centered woman that every time she opens her mouth, she would blurt out blunt remarks no matter who the person is. One day, she came across Seo Dong-chan, a gigolo who made her life upside down. She feels uneasy over the fact that she may have finally met her match.

Best Korean Drama 2010

Prosecutor Princess - March 31, 2010 to May 20, 2010

Prosecutor Princess

Honestly, I don’t find this interesting at first and i find the story a little bit simple and boring but I end up watching the whole KDrama for two times.  The actress Kim So Yeon is not as beautiful unlike other Korean actresses and Park Shi Hoo is not totally handsome but just like the saying goes, you cannot judge something just by their appearance.  The series turns out to be good after all.

The story evolves with Ma Hye Ri , an intelligent woman who loves fashion.  She was able to pass the bar exam and become a prosecutor but she dislikes hard work.  Wherever she goes , a handsome man Seo In Woo (with a big secret) continues to help her.  I don’t know if you would really love to see the ending after all the hard works Seo in Woo have done, i guess it was just overrated. I have second thoughts on recommending this series but it still landed as one of my best KDrama so indeed, it is something to watch.

My girlfriend is a Gumiho – My girlfriend is a nine-tailed fox - August 11, 2010 to September 30, 2010

My Girlfriend is a Gumiho – 2010 Best Korean Drama

Cha Dae Woong(Lee Seung Gi –  King2Hearts) plays a  cowardly and extremely immature man who accidentally set free a nine-tail fox (Shin Min Ah – Beautiful Days) who was imprisoned for 500 years. The fox began to take the form of a beautiful woman who follows the man who set her free around, causing misunderstandings that she is his girlfriend. Although the man enjoys the attention and envy that people around him is giving, he is also always in extreme fear that the Gumiho may want to feed on his liver to become human. But when both of them falls for each other as time goes by the reality strikes them with the news that she will eventually returns to her life after losing all her nine tails.

Although, I don’t really like Lee Seung Gi, (maybe the fact that he is still young) but he is kind of cute when he deliver funny lines.  I guess, that’s maybe the same reason why he captures the heart of many korean fans.

Korean Drama Review: Attic Prince/Rooftop Prince

June 24, 2012 in Drama, Korean Drama, Korean Drama I Love, Television Drama Review

Rooftop Prince Poster

When I have read the synopsis of the Attic Prince, I told myself that I really need to grab a copy of this KDrama.  I’m not really a fan of Park Yoochun (Micky)  but I do like his portrayal in  Sungkyunkwan Scandal rather than the latest Ms. Ripley which ending is such a waste.

Being a member of the famous Korean Pop Band JYJ, many korean drama addicts are surely interested on seeing him appear on another Kdrama.  The story evolves on a journey of love and betrayal as  Crown Prince Lee Gak (Micky) solves the murder case of the Crown Princess.  In his quest to find the culprits, he  traveled in the present Seoul (300 Years later).  He accidentally landed on the rooftop apartment of Park Ha ( who looks like the Crown Princess sister, Bu Yong) Han Ji Min.

Park Ha agrees to educate the Prince and his entourage on the life of the 21st century.  Lee Gak meet Hong Se Na , who looks like the reincarnation of his wife, the Crown Princess.  Lee Gak takes the identity of Yong Tae Yong who everybody thought died two years ago.  As Lee Gak unsolved the mystery of the murder of Tae Yong, he also unravel the mystery of the death of the Crown Princess and learned the fact that who died in the Joseon Era is not the Crown Princess but Bu Yong after she ate the poisonous dried persimmon which was intended for the Crown Prince.

On the process, Lee Gak realized that he was sent to the present not to find the Crown Princess but to learn his true love for the Crown Princess sister (Bu Yong) whom from the start was in love with him ( she confessed her love through a death letter).

Yoochun for Attic Prince

The drama series was written to let the viewer see that what destiny and true love means.  True loves knows time and place and even if you will be reincarnated after 300 years, the one that was destined for you will be your one true love. That’s the main reason why when Tae Yong see Park Ha in New York , he immediately felt something for her and that love could have been consummated but for some reason, Tae Yong goes to coma for Lee Gak to realize his love to Bu Yong which was reincarnated as Park Ha.

As Lee Gak went home on the Joseon Era, Tae Yong awaken on his coma which proves that Tae Yong souls was Lee Gak all alone.  The only sad thing on it is the thought that Lee Gak had to live alone in Joseon with his feelings and memories of Bu Yong (Park Ha) until he died and reincarnated 300 years after.  Park Ha on the other hand did not suffer much long considering the fact that after she died, she was reincarnated after 300 years to find the love he had for Lee Gak.

To sum it all, the drama was written and directed beautifully.  Although, there are many korean dramas that I have watched before, this one is a must see. Some plots are funny and can give warm feelings on your heart and the love story will be perfected with time.

Best Drama Addict

June 21, 2012 in Drama, Featured Post, Korean Drama I Love

Korean, Taiwanese, Japanese, Chinese, Spanish, Mexican and even Filipino dramas. I guess, drama series are really addicting.

My husband told me that if there was an award that I am very capable to receive is being a , certified “Korean drama addict” because of my korean dvd collections.  To date, i have 95 , korean, taiwanese and some chinese drama series but most of them are really koreans.  I even told my husband that it was not even hundreds, so i could not really say that I’m an addict (LOL). Maybe, i can agree with him when it pass my bench mark of 100 dvd’s.

dvd series collection

And the fact, that it was not even a year before I started buying, collecting and watching it.  Although, I can still remember the mexican telenovelas before.  Yes, i am one of the most avid fan of Thalia , do you remember her Marimar, Rosalinda, Maria la Del Barrio days and do you still remember “Gata Salvaje” were the main lead actress name was “Rosaura” (which happens to be my surname.  Well, i guess, it really runs from my blood to be a drama addict.

Korean drama’s are really beautiful although some of them are heart breaking and some are really frustrating.  (Could you imagine watching 20 episodes giving you sleepless night, only to find out that the lead character will die or sometimes, they would not end up together.  Oh, it was a very frustrating time for me but i guess, it’s just very natural for Korean dramas to have an ending like that.  If that was a shown in the Philippines, there would really be drastic and violent reactions.

So, what do you think, am I really addicted to drama?  What korean drama have you watched?  I bet you also have your favorites.  You can find some of my reviews on the right sidebar of this site.  I hope i can find some time to review all of the dramas i have watched.
