One Life to Live – A walk to Remember

January 14, 2012 in Movies, News, Television shows

We only have one life to live, so live it one day at a time and enjoy every bit of it.  If you happen to watch the movie “A Walk to Remember” , a movie adaptation of the book of famous author Nicholas Sparks made me cry so hard and gave me the reason to enjoy the life I have now.

a walk to remember - one life to live

The Story:

Each Spring in the little port town of Beaufort, North Carolina, when the wind smells of pine and salt and the sea, Landon Carter remembers his senior year at Beaufort High and Jamie Sullivan, the girl who changed his life.

Jamie was the last person Landon was likely to fall for. Serious and conservative, she was as far from cool as she could possibly be, and didn’t care. The daughter of the town’s Baptist minister, Jamie was not afraid of letting people know that her faith was the most important part of her life, even if it cost her some friends. Landon hung with the in-crowd — an aimless, moody, reckless guy who breezed through school on looks and bravado. He had no plans, no future and no faith in himself.

One night a prank that he and his buddies set up goes terribly wrong and lands a kid in the hospital. As punishment, Landon must tutor a young student at a poor school and participate in the Drama Club’s Spring play two activities the principal hopes will teach him some humility. They also happen to throw him into close contact with Jamie. Clearly in over his head, Landon is forced to ask her for help.

Soon, against his own expectations, Landon finds himself falling in love with this outwardly plain girl who possesses a passion for life he never imagined possible. But it isn’t easy. For reasons of her own, Jamie does everything she can to run away from romance until it becomes impossible to deny.

Being together will test everything that they believe in. Most of all, it will test the power of love and faith to transform a life into something worth living.

The movie stars; Mandy Moore and Shane West

If there is one thing that I would like to do before i walked away on this earth, is that to live a meaningful and happy life with my family. Their love is enough to make me through my darkest days.

The Road- Special Celebrity Screening at Resort’s World

November 30, 2011 in Movies, Press Release

When I first heard that there would be a special celebrity red carpet screening  for the latest movie of GMA 7, “The Road”, I thought that it would be a rare opportunity so I take a chance to be part of it, especially it’s my first time to visit Resort’s World newest Newport Ultra Cinema and I have heard high reviews regarding the film.

thanks to Ms. Aileen Vedad for the picture

I have been an avid fan of horror movie, it’s not that I wanted to have that creepy feeling but it must be that I’m a little bit pessimistic and with a vivid imagination as my father called me.

International film critics says that the movie is “creepy to the extreme” (KillerFilm.com) and “beautifully shot supernatural tale with incredible effects and great scares” (Bloody Disgusting) and for me, “it is not just creepy, it has an interesting story that you need to watch from beginning till end to fully grasp it’s complexity and it’s one of it’s kind in Philippine Horror movie history” and that is the main reason why it stands out from Filipino horror movies I used to watch.

The Road tells a story about a twelve year old case which is re-opened when three teenagers  go missing while traversing an infamous and abandoned road and as the police investigators are trying to find a lead on the whereabouts of the missing teens, they also eventually unearth the road’s gruesome part that spans two decades – a history of abduction, crimes and murders.   Although the road is isolated, anyone tries to pass through it could really feel the vengeful ghost who makes sure no one will leaves the road – alive!

The Road

After the successful movie of Director Yam Laranas (Sigaw/The Echo), in this movie he promises to treat moviegoers to a fresh new approach of horror. Not the one you can find in asian horror  or english movies or our local old Filipino movies with someone holding your feet under the bed or just a simple tap on your back which eventually turned out someone you know.  This story is already old and behind but in this movie, he gives a solid story and a superb cinematography and the most important of all, a unique storyline which also boasts of a hauntingly beautiful musical score created by Swedish Composer Johan Soderqvist.

Stars like Carmina Villarroel, Marvin Agustin , Rhian Ramos, Barbie Forteza, TJ Trinidad, tween stars Alden Richards, Louise delos Reyes, Derrick Monasterio, Lexi Fernandez, Ynna Asistio and Renz Valerio together with John Regala, Lloyd Samartino, Gerald Madrid, Allan Paule, Dex Quindoza, Ana Abad Santos and Ms. Jacklyn Jose completed the cast with a marvelous performance by each one of them.

Stars from the movie like Barbie Forteza, Alden Richards, Derrick Monasterio, Lexi Fernandez graced the event.  Other attendees are Aljur Abrenica, Angelicopter, Ms. Annabelle Rama, Tim Yap who posed as the emcee of the event, GMA 7 President Felipe Gozon and the unexpected arrival of Ms. Sharon Cuneta  shows up to pay their support.  I could not help myself not to have a souvenir photo in one my favorite actress, afterall it’s one of a lifetime opportunity for me.

This film is worth watching for, it is not just creepy or gruesome but it has a solid story that you will surely look forward to. No wonder, why many international film critics love it.

Catch them on your local cinema this coming November 30, 2011! Make sure you have with you your companion on the road after watching this movie.  prepare yourselves and if you’re not brave enough, i will strongly suggest, have someone accompany you or else you’ll get a goosebumps along the way home or you might probably encounter a Psycho man!

Twilight’s Breaking Dawn Part I

November 18, 2011 in Movies

The much awaited wedding of the year premiers tonight. Based on the book of best selling author Stephenie Meyer, this is the fourth installment of the Twilight Saga and was divided into two parts.  The book was actually divided into three parts, Bella’s story and Jacob’s version.

Breaking Dawn Invitation

The story line pick up the last Twilight’s episode, the Eclipse, here Twilight’s fans will see the realization of  Bella and Edwards wedding and Bella’s transformation into you know what, to save herself from the unexpected situation because of the baby she was carrying.

The book was released on August 2, 2008 and had a 6 million sale on that year alone.   It has received numerous critics reviews and many believes that this was the most controversial book on Twilight’s Saga.

Today, many cinemas open the door to premier the movie Twilight’s Breaking Dawn, Part I and I bet, many movie followers had watched it.  I did not bother to know if there would be a premier night showing here in our place.  Honestly, because of the last  Eclipse midnight showing incident (of waiting for almost an hour because there was a delay on SM part)  I lost interest on watching the movie on it’s first day.  Maybe, i would just wait for it on DVD or maybe, hubby would decided to watch them on the big screen but whatever it may be, there is one certain thing, i would never missed the movie.

Come back here for my review.

Change Up

November 17, 2011 in Movies

Change Up is a story of two men who had been best friends since their early childhood but as time goes by, they have drifted apart.   Dave (Jason Bateman) becomes an overworked lawyer, husband and father of three children while Mitch (Ryan Reynolds) has remained single and never had a real responsibility in life.

Change Up

One day, after a drinking spree, their life changed when they pee on a fountain who later turned out to be magical, their soul mixed up.  Mitch become Dave and Dave became Mitch and that is the start of the trouble for the two.

The story is very light and humorous and only tackles the story of the two best friends.  Although I had fun watching the movie, I felt that there is still something missing on it and needs more improvement.  Maybe, that’s the same reason why the movie had poor reviews.  Too sad for Reynolds because I do really like him as an actor.

Produced and Directed by David Dobkin.

Helena’s Wishes or Scent of a Woman – A Korean Drama

November 13, 2011 in Drama, Movies

Kim Sun-A, famous actress of Korean Drama “Kim Sam Soon is back with another yet drama romantic-comedy called Scent of a Woman or as known in the Philippines as Helena’s Wishes.

This is a story of a thirty something lady, Lee Yeon-Jae or Helena who live and worked a very simple life in a travel agency (Line Tours) owned by the family of a handsome  Kang Ji-Wook.  Her life is somehow unfortunate and one day because of a car accident, she went to the doctor and meet her old elementary pal which later on informed her that she has a cancer on the gallblader and she only had six months to live.

Finding her life in a very miserable situation, she quit her job and decided  that she would enjoy her life even for once before she died.  She went on a vacation where she again meet her dream man (Kang Ji Wook) thinking she was the tourist guide assign to guide him around the place.  She pursue her wishes to seduce him once and for all.

Soon after, Ji wook falls in love with Yeon Jae and after several circumstances, trials and misfortunes , Ji wook learned that Yeon Jae has cancer and only a few months to live.  Yeon Jae asked Ji Wook to never see her again but because their love is strong for each other despite the opposition of Ji Wook’s father and his supposed fiance Se- Kyung, both of them decided that they will pursue their love until the end.

You will be surprised how the story ends.  So make sure to watch it every day at ABS-CBN.  I find the story very passionately and I cried not just one but many times because I was moved by their love.  I am a little bit emotional too because of the fact that I had gallstones and I don’t want the idea or the possibility of having cancer in my life.  That, i think, i could not bear.

Hyun Bin Oppa

September 4, 2011 in Actor/Actress Profile, Featured Post, Movies

My Binnie, that’s what you will hear from all the fans who had loved and admire this young man.  The first time I saw him is at My name is Kim Sam Soon where he played a young restaurateur who falls in love with his baker twice his age.  It was quite a beautiful story that mesmerized many Filipinos.

He had made other korean dramas and the most recent one “Secret Garden” made a lasting impression not just in my mind but also in the hearts of many.  The story is plot is somewhat not a reality but only comes in the fantasy world and yes, just as you know me,  i love stories that dealt with an extraordinary feeling of fantasy and dream.  And at that time, i hope I was in it and I wish that I was just dreaming and that dream will just linger for a while.

I have been a fan of some actor and actresses before but never as gaga like this time. I don’t know but i think there is a certain charm of him that caught me or that little bad boy image he had that made the impression so please bear with me if you will occasionally see him here. ha ha ha.

Currently Hyun Bin was performing his military service and would be release next year.

Virus Attack

September 3, 2011 in Movies

Just in time, I was in the mood to write posts for this blog and then suddenly a virus attack made me furious and sad.  I thought I would definitely lose my blogs and I have to begin from scratch.  I don’t know what’s keeping me away on starting my posts.  I believe in premonitions but then I don’t want to lose my faith and I wanted that much to start this one, so I can share with you my love for movies , especially my favorite Korean movies.

Now, i have learned my lesson well that i need to change passwords, make a regular back-up, updates wordpress and those plugins and of course keep my fingers crossed.

I’m just starting and I don’t want to lose that great enthusiasm I had to share a little part of my life and thoughts and I do hope greater things will happen not just in my life but also in this blog and that i rely to all of you.  The success of this blog depends also on your loving heart.

Welcome

August 20, 2011 in Featured Post, Movies

This domain was my prize from Sis Gagay’s domain contest and I would like to thank her again for giving me this opportunity to begin my idea of having my own blog site about my favorite movies.  My hubby and I are movie addicts, yes, i think I can call myself like that.  What do you think of watching a movie marathon whole day and again on the next day and the next day.  You might think that i’m over exaggerating  but the truth, we really does that especially if we had a long holiday.  We just love to seat in front of the television and watch our favorite movies.  Movies that ranges from love story, action, sometimes a little bit drama, anime and even horror movies.

Well, that is not just the reason why i started this blog , the truth is I wanted to share with you my favorite Korean drama novela.  For years now, i have been indulging myself watching them.  It relaxes me and made me smile and forget all my worries in life.  It makes me live in a fantasy world wherein I am the main character and the next is history.

It’s a feeling of desire and admiration and for me it’s very simple.  I hope that life can be as simple as my favorite Korean novela, to dwell in a world that is not entirely mine or greatly apart with what I have now. It’s not that i’m not satisfied with what I have, it’s just the other part of me being a dreamer.  I dream of going to different places, eat different foods, learn different languages  and watching different movies makes me relive that fantasy world I created long ago when I’m still a seven years old girl watching the bright sky and making a wish on that fallen star that crosses my head.
