My Beloved

GMA Network continues its nationwide domination this 2012 as it produces another high-calibre and optimum primetime offering with the launch of its newest drama series, My Beloved. It will replace Survivor Philippines beginning February 13 on GMA Telebabad.

Leading the blockbuster ensemble of cast is no less than Philippine Television’s most popular loveteam and one of today’s hottest couples in the entertainment arena, Metro Manila Filmfest 2011 Best Actor Dingdong Dantes as Benjie/Arlan, an angel of death commonly known as “sundo” who takes on a human form to save the life of his beloved woman and Primetime Queen Marian Rivera as Sharina, the beautiful mortal who falls in love with a fallen angel.

My Beloved

My Beloved is the very first original primetime soap opera of both stars who underwent not just major makeovers with their looks but also in the characters they portray, something new and fresh their avid fans and supporters should look forward to. This is likewise Dingdong and Marian’s fifth collaboration with the network after starring in Marimar,DyesebelAng Babaeng Hinugot sa Aking Tadyang and Endless Love.

Adding star power to this high-budgeted program is the special participation of one of Philippine Cinema’s highly-commended veteran actresses, Ms Nova Villa. Following her stint in the network’s afternoon prime soaps, Ms Nova lends her acting chops in her very first primetime program as she plays an offbeat role as Lola Inggay, Benjie’s drunkard grandmother. She lost her faith in God after experiencing countless misfortunes throughout her life. As Lola Inggay, she earns a living by deceiving people as a jueteng collector.

Joining Dingdong and Marian are some of today’s biggest names in drama headlined by Paolo Contis as Gimo, Benjie’s childhood friend who is the leader of their gang. This latest project reunites Paolo with his long-time friend Dingdong after playing the latter’s villain inAng Babaeng Hinugot Sa Aking Tadyang. Meanwhile, Katrina Halili joins the cast of My Beloved as Emmie, Benjie’s loyal girlfriend. Katrina once again stars alongside Dingdong and Marian after playing the famed kontrabida role of Rebecca Santibañez in the high-rating telenovela, MarimarMarky Lopez as Tikyo, Benjie’s most trusted ally; and playing an equally vital role is respected dramatic actress, Ms Chanda Romero as she breathes life to the character of Elsa, Sharina and Monica’s authoritarian aunt who will make their lives a living hell.

Making this primetime spectacle even grander are two of today’s most sought-after loveteamsthe desirable tandem of Jennica Garcia as Monica, Sharina’s protective sister; and Carl Guevarra as Junic, Monica’s boyfriend; and the lovable pairing of Tween stars Louise delos Reyes as Grace, a poor girl who pretends to be well-off; and Alden Richards as Rico, Benjie’s younger brother.

Playing the coveted role of Sharina’s ardent suitor is one of GMA’s hot and most desired properties, Mikael Daez as Nelson. Mikael is all set to showcase a new breadth to his acting skills and make more hearts swoon to his striking good looks.

My Beloved also introduces the glittering roster of fast-rising Kapuso stars including Ynna Asistio as Lizette, Emmie’s spoiled sister; Saab Magalona as Ginella, Elsa’s arrogant daughter; Djanin Cruz as Lucy, Monica’s tomboyish friend; and Andrea Torres asDessa, Sharina’s bestfriend.

Completing the star-studded cast are the characters known as “Sundo” who will join Arlan in his mission: Jon Hall as JorylFabio Ide as Rowan, and Jay Gonzaga as Mikal.

The story of My Beloved begins when Sharina’s happy life turns upside down with the death of her father, Romeo. Left all alone with nothing and no one to care for them after her mother eloped with another man, Sharina and her younger sister Monica must now live and work under the strict rules of their aunt Elsa and her daughter Ginella.

Life has been unbearable for the two sisters, but Sharina does not give up in despair, and instead strive to get an education through the help of Lily played by Rio Locsin in a special guest role, a kind-hearted teacher who treats Sharina like her own daughter.

Tragedy has struck Sharina’s world once again when Lily passed away. Much to her surprise, Lily entrusted her small business including her house to Sharina. So, together with her sister Monica, Sharina decided to move in to Lily’s house and start a new life.

One day, Sharina sees Lily’s old painting of a man inside her ancestral house. She also gets hold of Lily’s diary and learns of her encounter with a man who saved her from an accident. Lily fell in love with this mysterious person and waited to be reunited with him until her last breath.

Completely intrigued with the identity of the good-looking man on the canvas, Sharina could not get the face of the man out of her mind and it repeatedly haunts her dreams every night. Until she meets an accident and Sharina finally comes face to face with the mystifying being in the painting. The man saves her from death and Sharina kisses him before he disappears.

Dingdong Dantes

In the divine realm of angels, one strict rule applies to every “sundo”: that no angel of death can fall in love with a human being. In such case, Arlan has freely chosen to give up his immortal state when he genuinely kissed Sharina back.

Meanwhile, when Sharina wakes up, she searches for her rescuer and falls in love with him. Unknown to her, the man in the painting and her rescuer is one and the same person.

But by a startling twist of fate, Sharina and her “mystery” man’s paths will entwine as she meets Benjie, a playboy and a member of small-time syndicate. The angel Arlan, who has been punished and banished to earth to become a mortal, transfers his soul into Benjie’s body and has equally fallen in love with Sharina. Now, Arlan must live a life of a mortal, and redeem himself to go back to heaven.

As Sharina yearns to be united with her mystery man, she will face many struggles after discovering his real identity as a thief and gangster. Now trapped into Benjie’s body, Arlan must learn how to feel human emotions and endure the day to day life of a normal human being.

Now that the two fated lovers are reunited, how will Sharina accept the truth about Benjie’s violent and shady past as a criminal? How will the fallen angel Arlan cope with his newfound life as Benjie, as he deals with the various temptations and struggles of being a human being?

As the two unlikely lovers enter an earthly relationship, will Arlan succeed in fulfilling his mission of saving his beloved Sharina with his second chance at life, and at love? Will our star-crossed lovers realize their destiny to once and for all be together even in the next lifetime? Will their love story and commitment to be together last till eternity? Is Sharina willing to commit sins for the sake of her loved ones? Will Arlan be willing to go to hell and back to save his beloved Sharina?

Under the helm of Director Dominic Zapata with original concept by RJ Nuevas, My Beloved showcases a beautiful and timeless tale of undying love between two people of two different worlds. It is a unique traditional drama that stands out for its excellent character portrayals and heart-thumping scenes from beginning to end with top notch production values that naturally highlights the series’ many compelling moments. My Beloved is a story of sacrifice and love, of how each of the character lives’ intertwine as they encounter the magical journey of eternal love.

I have always loved watching Spooky Nights at GMA 7 and I will definitely watch this episode.

Alden Richards

Let’s take a peek at GMA 7’s newest promising actor, Alden Richards.

Alden Richards

Alden Richards or Richard R. Faulkerson Jr. in real life, born January 3, 1993 . He was taking up Business Administration and a recent addition to Tween Academy.

He was one of the leading male cast of GMA 7 “Alakdana” opposite to Louise delos Reyes.

He was also awarded as the 1st Filipino “Amazing Male Newcomer” in the first Yahoo! OMG! Philippines Awards (2011).

In this film of Yam Laranas, “The Road”, Alden Richards portray a young man that was traumatized in his young age does lead him to have violent ways, killing two young female stranded on the road.

Tween Star Alden Richards

This young man is not just for boy next door image, his acting in this film shows the solid ways  and his capacity to act.  As he quoted, “he is open for a mature roles”.

GMA 7 is building him to be their next big star and I could just wonder why.  He had the looks, the charisma, the energy and the talent to be one.  Keep this up and his name will surely make a big hit.

His next project is Panday 2 and GMA -7 primetime series “Sundo” with Dingdong Dantes and Rhian Ramos.  ( who happens to be his crush too, so what happened to Sam Pinto who he had recently dated on a Manila Bay Cruise ship)

Bloggers Night Out at “The Road”

Watching “The Road” ahead of the crowd is something I am really happy.  It is not the glamour nor the experience of watching a movie with the stars well known today but it is also the first experience of visiting Resort’s World.

I have heard about it, seen it on television thus the lingering thought of going there is something I so desire.  Come to think of it, there would be no reason for me to go there, after all, it will just be a waste of money going there because of nothing.

celebrity screening of "the Road"

So, I am grateful to learn that a celebrity screening hosted by GMA films will be held there and the chance to meet my fellow BonPen bloggers.  (Remember the bloggers I have met during the BonPen festival at Pitogo Quezon)

Bloggers at "The Road " special celebrity screening with Alden Richards

Once in my life, i also thought of becoming an actress but it was a dream of a young girl striving her way to studies and worked at the same time.  I thought before that being an actress can give you a lot of money and of course i know that acting is one I know i am good at but then it turns out that it was just a dream I could never fulfill but I am not bitter because I am happy of whatever I have become.

Anyway, the movie, “The Road” is something worth viewing, it has a solid story that you will crave to learn what will happen and why it happen.  Actually, the thought of having a part II for it could be a nice idea.

The night was all about fun.  Even, I was scared for a while but horror is something i love to watch that’s why, I never had problem sleeping that night. Especially of the thoughts that I have met my long time favorite, if you never know, i am an avid Sharonian.  Who cares of what I have heard about her, for me, she will always be the mega star and nothing can change that.

with the mega star (fulfilling a long time dream)

The event was a success and I congratulate again Director Yam Laranas for a very good film.  I know that this film would be a success and I do hope that many horror films would also set the standards just like this film does.

Special thanks to my fellow blogger, Aylin Bedad for the beautiful pictures.

The Road- Special Celebrity Screening at Resort’s World

When I first heard that there would be a special celebrity red carpet screening  for the latest movie of GMA 7, “The Road”, I thought that it would be a rare opportunity so I take a chance to be part of it, especially it’s my first time to visit Resort’s World newest Newport Ultra Cinema and I have heard high reviews regarding the film.

thanks to Ms. Aileen Vedad for the picture

I have been an avid fan of horror movie, it’s not that I wanted to have that creepy feeling but it must be that I’m a little bit pessimistic and with a vivid imagination as my father called me.

International film critics says that the movie is “creepy to the extreme” (KillerFilm.com) and “beautifully shot supernatural tale with incredible effects and great scares” (Bloody Disgusting) and for me, “it is not just creepy, it has an interesting story that you need to watch from beginning till end to fully grasp it’s complexity and it’s one of it’s kind in Philippine Horror movie history” and that is the main reason why it stands out from Filipino horror movies I used to watch.

The Road tells a story about a twelve year old case which is re-opened when three teenagers  go missing while traversing an infamous and abandoned road and as the police investigators are trying to find a lead on the whereabouts of the missing teens, they also eventually unearth the road’s gruesome part that spans two decades – a history of abduction, crimes and murders.   Although the road is isolated, anyone tries to pass through it could really feel the vengeful ghost who makes sure no one will leaves the road – alive!

The Road

After the successful movie of Director Yam Laranas (Sigaw/The Echo), in this movie he promises to treat moviegoers to a fresh new approach of horror. Not the one you can find in asian horror  or english movies or our local old Filipino movies with someone holding your feet under the bed or just a simple tap on your back which eventually turned out someone you know.  This story is already old and behind but in this movie, he gives a solid story and a superb cinematography and the most important of all, a unique storyline which also boasts of a hauntingly beautiful musical score created by Swedish Composer Johan Soderqvist.

Stars like Carmina Villarroel, Marvin Agustin , Rhian Ramos, Barbie Forteza, TJ Trinidad, tween stars Alden Richards, Louise delos Reyes, Derrick Monasterio, Lexi Fernandez, Ynna Asistio and Renz Valerio together with John Regala, Lloyd Samartino, Gerald Madrid, Allan Paule, Dex Quindoza, Ana Abad Santos and Ms. Jacklyn Jose completed the cast with a marvelous performance by each one of them.

Stars from the movie like Barbie Forteza, Alden Richards, Derrick Monasterio, Lexi Fernandez graced the event.  Other attendees are Aljur Abrenica, Angelicopter, Ms. Annabelle Rama, Tim Yap who posed as the emcee of the event, GMA 7 President Felipe Gozon and the unexpected arrival of Ms. Sharon Cuneta  shows up to pay their support.  I could not help myself not to have a souvenir photo in one my favorite actress, afterall it’s one of a lifetime opportunity for me.

This film is worth watching for, it is not just creepy or gruesome but it has a solid story that you will surely look forward to. No wonder, why many international film critics love it.

Catch them on your local cinema this coming November 30, 2011! Make sure you have with you your companion on the road after watching this movie.  prepare yourselves and if you’re not brave enough, i will strongly suggest, have someone accompany you or else you’ll get a goosebumps along the way home or you might probably encounter a Psycho man!

Goes back in time with Amaya

Amaya, a historical fiction drama aired at GMA 7 are gaining positive reviews from critics and viewers alike.  It was said that it was the most expensive drama for 2011 considering the set they had made to capture the  old Filipino places and dresses and the casts need to study deep Filipino language to portray their characters.

Amaya

It is also the first historical epic drama in Philippine television and for me the second best done by GMA 7 after my favorite Encantadia.  Catch Amaya every night at GMA 7.

The story is about a girl with a twin snake destined to put an end to Rajah Mangubat’s reign of terror. However, in a twist of fate, Amaya and Bagani the Rajah’s son falls in love.  She became an uripon (slave) because of her father’s legal wife doing.  Although she rise to be a Head Apprentice but later on was exiled and become a warrior.
